Side/Step is an interdisciplinary art festival for new, bold work. 

Taking over untraditional spaces, we bring together artists who are pushing the boundaries of their disciplines. We welcome work that steps out of whatever ‘traditional’ means to you. Side/Step is a laboratory for bold artists, a place for us to try something new, a place for us to gather and connect.

The Programme

With a focus on live art, we programme new pieces of theatre alongside other artistic disciplines . Our programme includes short film screenings, workshops, pop up art installations, and a mixture of works in progress to finished performances.

The festival had three aims:

1. Use non-typical spaces to create opportunities outside institutional structures.

2. Encourage collaboration across artistic disciplines.

3. Platform emerging artists brave enough to try something new.
